Just what I needed

Ahhhh nothing like a weekend at home. It was so nice and peaceful. I pretty much did absolutlely nothing at all. The only thing that I really did was go shopping some yesterday and go to church with my grandma. It was nice at church too because I saw Chris (my manager at Penney's) and she said that I could have weekend hours while I'm at school if I wanted them. So now I'm gonna quit at the cafeteria and get hours at Penney's since I can can get more hours in one weekend at Penney's then in 2 weeks at the Rock and it's at higher pay. Duh, what kind of choice is that? And today I pretty much read and finished my laundry before coming back to school. Plus my mom made muffins that were delicious. Good weekend

Oops

Even though total protein reagent and osmometer bath solution are the exact same color and right next to each other in the same cupboard, total protein reagent should not be added to the osmometer unless you want to see your teacher just about kill you and then learn how to drain and refill the osmometer.

Wow

I'm still a little surprised but I think that the shock is starting to wear off. Mrs Ross told me yesterday that her and Dan (my advisor) are nominating me for Omnicron Delta Kappa, a leadership honor society that is real hard to get into. I'm just totally amazed and grateful that they thought about nominating me. This is awesome!

Excellent New Release Tuesday

Usually I don't get too excited about New Release Tuesday, but today is just too good of one not to be excited. I got my copy of OK to GO yesterday and it's absofreakinglutely amazing, I think that Bumpin' Fresh is my favorite song, it just gets me moving but the entire album is awesome.

And then there is my other geekdom. I made the midnight run to WalMart last night and picked up the SW OT. Spent $50 that I really couldn't afford to spend, but how can you be a SW fan and not buy the OT on the day that it comes out on DVD. Now if only I didn't have to go to class today, it'd be a perfect day

Return of the Bible Guys

Last year's post on the subject

Ahhh, another academic year, another return of the "Bible Guys" as I call them. Ok, so they're the Gideons, but I like Bible Guys better. I was walking to the Health Center this morning to get a test result and there they were, in their suits standing on almost every corner between me and my destination holding out their green copies of the NJV New Testament. Crap. And here I am, having to get halfway across campus half asleep. So, I put on my best smile and tell them that I already have one, which isn't really a lie because I've got like 3 of them and my regular NIV Bible, so it's not really like I need a 5th copy of the New Testament. But it's still funny to watch. Some people avoid eye contact completely. Some wave them off. It was also funny to watch one shake his copy at a girl that was wearing a short skirt and halter top. Dude, it's like 80 degrees outside and as humid as Dagobah.

Ah Bible Guys, you make life interesting

Blech

So I went to the doctor today because I've been having stomach pains, and I'm diagnosed with gastritis and am given a rx for zantac. I started it and felt better, and then I went and ate dinner. I once again feel like crap. I just wanna curl up in a ball and not move. Bah

Won't ya come back home again?

I went back to St Paul's for the first time this semester since it was the first Sunday that I've been here. Every time that I go there after not being there for a while, I feel like I've come back home. That little chapel down in the woods just seems so comforting and so much more friendly than the church that I go to at home. There's a feeling of belonging there. The regular parishoners are so welcoming to the college students, they cook us dinner every Sunday, I've gotten rides offered for church events in the case that I didn't have a car by people that have just seen me in church. And Father Wayne and Deacon John just know how to connect to the college student. They know how to keep our attention and how to apply the Word to what we're going to. I feel like I'm home again there

Green(Welcome to the World)

Welcome to the world, oh yeah
A very unusual place
Don't let that scare you

Welcome to the world, oh yeah
It's in your face
It's all around you

Well it can't go on and on forever
So let it go
And hold on tight

It's all so new
Yeah you're so green
But i'll cover you
So enjoy the view
Yeah you're so green
Until you balance on the earth to find the love that surrounds you

Welcome to the world, oh yeah
It's not your typical space
Just let it hold you

Welcome to the world, oh yeah
Don't quit the race
Let it unfold you

Well it can't go on and on forever
So let it go
And hold on tight

It's all so new
Yeah you're so green
But i'll cover you
So enjoy the view
Yeah you're so green
Until you balance on the earth to find the love that surrounds you

Anywhere you go
I'm gonna be one step behind you
You may not know
But I'll be there

Welcome to the human race
It's a very unusual place
But that's what makes it wonderful

Now your world has just begun
You're a very unusual one
And that's what makes you beautiful

Well it can't go on and on and on forever
So let it go
It will go on and on and on forever
When you go
So hold on
Hold on

Welcome to the world oh yeah
Welcome to the world oh yeah

Blondes have more fun

So, I got blonde highlights last weekend. It's very interesting because I think that people notice me more now. It's like the blonde attracts their attention. I've been noticing those extra looks that I've been getting. Or maybe that's just me being more confident cuz I look so good. I dunno, but blondes do have more fun

You can't go home again

Ya ever notice how much things change once you've been away from home for a while? I noticed it this summer, and I noticed it more this weekend too. When I'm home for long periods of time, no problem, as I have my own computer and I can entertain myself in my room if I get bored enough (which I did plenty of this past summer in my unemployed state), yet this weekend I noticed more differences of what it's like to be at home again.

Yesterday, we had the family over for a BBQ and mom and I got into a fight over my music selection because I don't have a CD player at home in my room and so I have to use the main one or my portable if I want to listen to any music. So, as I was trying to study and do things around the house, I had the CD player in the living room on and I know that it doesn't have the best sound ever, hell, the speakers on my computer have better sound, and the bass was really bad, and it was obvious on the song that was playing and mom is telling me that my music sucks, and I retort back that it's just the stereo, and it's not my fault since I don't have a cd player to use at home. Mom kinda takes offense to that remark and I apologize and tell her what I meant and I turn off my music on that CD player and try the computer (which the sound card in sucks and the sound isn't that much better, but it is better), so all was well. But it just seems that even when I'm home for the weekend, they expect more out of me than they do my brother, who still lives at home all the time. It's just not fair.
