Back to the grind

Well, I successfully got moved back to school. Even if I can't find ANY poster putty in this town to hang my posters up to cover the depressing cinderblocks. Forgot a few important things at home, like my pillow and travel coffee mugs. Ah well, back home this weekend so I'll get that stuff then. Time to run errands. Laters!

My soul

I'm exceptionally artistic!

Find your soul type
at kelly.moranweb.com.

Virtues: You look for immense creativity and individuality in people, including yourself. You're not happy with anything less than brilliant, and you focus on being expressive. You value energy, liveliness, and upbeat personalities, but you're not supportive of moodiness when you yourself can be unreliably moody. Seeking activity, you like the bustle of business but need the secluded atmosphere of a studio or private corner.

Aspirations: You feel the need to express your talents, whether it be through writing, drawing, singing, dancing, composing, performing, or photographing. While you strive to ever improve your work, you want to display it as soon as possible when your impatience kicks in. You want to be a prodigy but you might not have the means right at your fingertips. Trust me, do NOT move to New York to do it. Yeesh!

Quirks: Conformists bother you because of their lack of individuality. You're often late or unreliable. You're showy and refuse to share the spotlight. You only tell little white lies. You worm your way into the hearts of others, but be careful; some people despise the show-offs.

Factors: Surround yourself with activity and you'll always have material to work with. Involve friends and family in your projects so they don't feel like envious outsiders.

Future: Show business or not, you'll settle down happily if you're among those who appreciate your natural talents and desire to perform. Don't stay in one place too long, and don't be too hasty in defining your relationships. Who are you to judge what only time will tell?

They don't want to let me go!

Ok, so yesterday was my last day of work. Made it through with no major problems, even though I did have to work with Cita and I ended up snapping at her, oh well. I said good bye to Chris and got a hug from her and she told me that I was a godsend. So all was good, I have a job when I come back home at Christmas.

So anyways, 9am today the phone rings. It's Leia, one of the other department managers. "Chris wants to know if you can work from 3-9 today" I've now realized that "[insert manager's name here] wants to know if you can work..." is just a Penney's ploy because Chris knew that yesterday was my last day because I'm leaving for school tomorrow and Leia didn't know that I was leaving. So, I told her no that I had to pack and she asked where I was going and I said that I was leaving for school tomorrow and she said that she'd wondered why I wasn't on the schedule. They just don't want to get rid of me!

Lift

Managed to get the last copy of Lift in all of Target. It is a totally awesome CD, and shall most likely be my new obsession until OK to GO comes out next month.

Tomorrow's my last day of work. I'm even happier because I don't have to work with Cita, which makes it so enjoyable. Chris told me today that I'm going to be missed and I told her that I'll be back at Christmas, and she told me that she's going to hold me to that and will bug my grandma about it. I don't know if the fact that my manager knows my entire family is always a good thing...

Back to School

Yup, it's that time for me again. I move back to Ferris next Friday. And I'll just say it now, I hate packing. I haven't even started yet, but just the thought of packing makes me hate it. I'm ready to go back and see my friends and hang with them and finish up school, but first I've got to get all ready to go back. I've got the address and phone number for my room at school, so if you want it, hit me up

Holy Touchout

Wow. I'm still amazed by seeing the men's 4x200m freestyle relay last night. Australia has dominated that event for so long, and you could almost feel the tension between the US team and the Aussies. It was just an amazing race. I have this t-shirt by Nike that says "Because 1/100th of a second counts" Last night proved that fact. It was the last 50m of the race and my heart was beating faster because it looked like Australia was going to pull ahead of the US. They were neck and neck, reaching the finish at almost the exact same moment. I wasn't really sure who won until I saw the US team celebrating and the commentators proclaiming victory! It was sweet. The US won by .13 seconds. That's just a handlength. Damn, what a race. Makes me want to compete again...

There is no finish line until we find a cure

Was down at Relay for Life earlier. Haven't been able to go the last 2 years because of being an RA, but I was able to go down tonight for the Luminary Ceremony and then stick around some afterwards. The Luminary Ceremony is probably the most moving part of the entire event besides the survivors walk. Of course, you may be wondering why I was down there at all. My mom is a cancer survivor. She had thyroid cancer years ago (I don't remember how many years ago, but I think that I was in Jr High at the time.) I was thinking tonight that I'm so glad that it was just thyroid cancer because that's easily treatable. She didn't have to go through chemo, instead they just removed her thyroid and she went through radiation therapy. I just realized tonight, how lucky we are that it was such a treatable cancer, and that I still get to have all this time with my mom because it was so treatable and she's a cancer survivor. They showed the names of 3000 people tonight. And that was just the names of the people that had their names in by the August 1st deadline. That's a lot of people. That's a lot of cancer

Conspiracy theory #225A

Dun dun duuuuuuuuuuuun...

So I was hanging girl's jeans in the fitting room the other day and I was hanging the girls plus sized jeans and I was thinking that they looked huge, like they'd fit me. So we looked in the size catalog and lo and behold, a girls 18.5 is the same as a size 16 in womens. So last night I saw a pair of jeans that looked really cute and decided to try them on. I thought that I'd grabbed the 18.5 but I'd grabbed a 16.5, but it was a perfect fit. Yay! I know where I'm buying my jeans from now on

A brief recap

What in the name of the Force ever made me crazy enough to go back into retail (especially the children's department) during back to school? It's worse than Christmas. Renee told me yesterday that back to school is Christmas for the children's department. It's insane. I've rang up $800 worth of merchandise for people. Cleaning out the girls fitting room is near impossible and you just can't stay caught up with it anymore, and what's even better is, we're having a HUGE sale right now and we open early tomorrow and Sunday (and I get to work open to close on Sunday, yar!) Can I just disappear into happy pill land until it's all over and just get a paycheck anyways?

Speaking of happy pills...

Wow. As I said earlier, I got my wisdom teeth pulled earlier this week and it wasn't pretty. I still have a resemblence to a chipmunk but it's going away. My mouth still hurts though because my jaw is still swollen and there was just so much work to get it all out. And for someone who's never been on anything stronger than Motrin 600, Vicodin is just amazing. Takes away the pain and when mixed with motrin (like I'm supposed to, Vicodin for pain and Motrin for swelling) it knocks me out 20 minutes after I take it. Good stuff man.

Yes!

Ok a bit of happy news finally. I was a bit worried about my bill for fall semester but it turns out that I'm only $127 short of what I need for the semester financial aid wise. That'll be no problem to pay. Weeeeeeeeeee!

Wisdom teeth

Got mine pulled today. Am in a drug induced haze right now. Took 2 hours to get the teeth out and a little bit of under his breath swearing by my dentist. Now I'm on happy pills to keep the pain away and can barely stay awake. But at least I feel good.
