Outdoorsy day

A day spent outside is a day that ends with you tired. Today was no exception. We put the garden in today. Eleven tomato plants, 7 peppers, 6 watermelon mounds, weeded the raspberries (well mom did most of that, I have to finish that tomorrow), horseradish and strawberries and also planted lettuce, green beans and carrots. We'll be eating good if everything grows.

I bought two new birdfeeders today too. The finch feeder is hanging from the tree in the front yard and the other feeder is hanging above the pile of dirt that will be the new (maybe) butterfly and hummingbird garden if I get my way. I have a lot of planting to do this week while I'm off.

Bleach time

So it was one of the last nice days of the year today. I live in Michigan, I know that 80* days don't happen mid-September that often. So after doing some weeding in the garden, I decided that I was going to clean off the tables on the porch which are white metal tables. They didn't look so white though and I really didn't want to sit at them and study there as nasty as they looked.

Half a role of paper towels and some clorox bleach spray later, the tables are actually white again. Whatever was growing on them was scrubbed off and you can tell that I have to paint them again.

It's honestly time to buy some new tables that won't get as nasty.

Peppers anyone?

So today I was at the fruit market with Grandma M since she still can't drive and I took her to get the plants for her garden. We hadn't planted ours yet either because we were waiting on a part for the rotatiller. Dad finally fixed that today. Well, while we were there everything was very picked over so I called dad and asked what he wanted for the garden. He told me 6 tomato plants and 2 things each of jalapeno and green peppers. I didn't know that he just wanted 2 jalapeno and 2 green pepper plants, I got 2 of the little containers containing 4 plants each of each type of pepper. So yeah, instead of having the 4 pepper plants that he wanted (which wouldn't have happened anways since you had to buy the peppers in sets of 4) we have 8 jalapeno and 8 green pepper plants. Peppers anyone?

Complete Exhaustion

I think I now know what complete exhaustion feels like. Mom's been running me ragged trying to get stuff done for the grad party which is a week from today. I did ALL of our planting this year. I lost count of how many flats of flowers that I've planted. Probably somewhere around 6 flats or so since Monday night. I'm covered in bug bites and barely feel like moving. I felt ready to fall asleep at 5pm. I've planted, weeded, mulched, bought more plants, fertilized with miracle grow. My knees are ready to revolt, I've been down on them so much. I'm sunburnt, sore, cranky and itchy. And if my mother buys one more flower or planter for me to plant, I will not be held responsible for my reaction. I need to get the hell out of here for a while. But first I need to get the energy and not be woken up by sparrows feeding outside my window at 5:30am. Ugh

Watched the D Day program at 8 tonight. Picked out my cousin a few times. If you watched he was the tall Airborne fighter that was holding his gun left handed (that's the only way that we picked him out because he's a lefty). It was pretty cool
